Censorship Against the Right is A-OK
Remember the controversy a few years ago when the Dixie Chicks made their stupid comments in Europe of how they were ashamed that George Bush was from Texas? Fans and music stations stopped buying their music in protest and that was called censorship. Leftists love to cry censorship whenever the public makes a statement, usually by boycotting them and their offerings. This just shows how limited their understanding of economics and the marketplace is. Then again, they're Socialists, so that goes hand-in-hand. For those who don't understand, only GOVERNMENTS can censor people, be it the federal, state, or local governments, or governmental entities like the Federal Communications Commission (just ask Eminem).
The reason I bring this up is that 2 elected Democrat New Jersey assembly Joan Quickly and Linda Stander are calling on bookstores in New Jersey to not stock Ann Coulter's new book,
Godless: The Church of Liberalism. Here is a portion of their press release:
"No one in New Jersey should buy this book and allow Ann Coulter to profit from her hate-mongering. We are asking New Jersey retailers statewide to stand with us and express their outrage by refusing to carry or sell copies of Coulter's book. Her hate-filled attacks on our 9/11 widows has no place on New Jersey bookshelves."
Now, this isn't censorship in it's truest form as they aren't using the power of government to simply stop book stores from selling the book, but it sure is a helluva lot closer to censorship than anything Conservatives are accused of doing against Liberals by simply not buying their offerings.
